We do this because we know some in our audi ence are not as geeky as oth ers, so to be all inclu sive we decided to write our tuto ri als for every one — geeks and non-geeks.

In this sim ple tuto r ial, I will show you how to con fig ure both Win dows Vista and Fedora Linux to share files and fold ers and printers.

For you to accom plish this task, you’ll need to sat isfy some basic require ments before Win dows Vista and Fedora Linux can share files and folders.

Both machines need to be in the same IP subnet

Both machines need to be in the same  work group

Both machines need to be using the same pro to col (samba needs to be installed on Fedora machine)

Step One) Prepar ing Win dows Vista machine

1) Click Start –> Right-click on Net work –> Prop er ties. Next click on Man age Net work Connections.
